KARACHI: Fire tender set ablaze

KARACHI, Oct 17: A fire tender was set ablaze in New Karachi on Wednesday night.

The chief fire officer, Ataur Rahman, told Dawn that, according to his information, unidentified youths came to the fire station in sector 5-E of New Karachi, beat up the fire brigade staff and escaped after setting ablaze a fire tender.

An official at the Central Fire Station said the miscreants also ransacked the fire station and cut off telephone lines.

The fire station was under construction, and it had a single fire tender, he added.
