BAHAWALPUR: Gaggo Mandi police in Vehari district booked a farm owner on the charge of attempting to rape a girl after entering her house at Chak No 213/EB.

According to police sources, a girl ‘S’ used to work as a maid in the house of a farm owner, ‘R’. The girl alleged that because of the farm owner’s sexual advances, she left the job a couple of days back.

The police, quoting ‘S’, said that on Monday night, the farm owner allegedly barged into her house and attempted to rape her. However, on facing resistance from her, the suspect fled the scene.

Acting on the complaint of the girl, Gaggo Mandi police registered an FIR against the suspect, who is yet to be arrested.

Meanwhile, a suspect wanted in a rape case was arrested by Burewala city police.

As per the police, the suspect, ‘N’, had fled away, allegedly after raping a woman, ‘F’.

The police claimed to have arrested him within 12 hours of the incident.

NEWLYWED MURDERED: A man allegedly murdered his wife by slitting her throat, just a month after they contracted a love marriage at Mauza Qasaiwala village in the limits of Lodhran Saddar police station.

According to police public relations officer (PRO), Usman contracted a love marriage with Maryam, a resident of Haroonabad, about a month ago. It was Maryam’s second marriage and she had four children from her first, which had ended in a divorce, he says.

The PRO says that a few days ago, Maryam had gone to her parents’ house after a quarrel with Usman.

On Tuesday, Usman brought her back after a reconciliation, but on returning home, the couple again had a quarrel, during which the husband attacked the wife with a knife and allegedly slit her throat in front of her children. She died on the spot.

Later, Usman called the police on helpline 15 and surrendered to them.

The police after arresting the suspect, called a Recue 1122 team, which shifted the body to the Lodhran District Headquarters Hospital for the postmortem examination.

LIFE TERM: Burewala Additional Sessions Judge Muhammad Mohsin Kamoka handed down a life term, along with a fine, to a father and his son for killing a man in 2024 in the limits of Fateh Shah police station.

According to the prosecution, Bashir and his son Fakhr had murdered one Sarfraz over old enmity on Aug 26, 2024. The police, after registration of a murder case under section 302 of PPC, arrested the duo and submitted the case challan in the court.

The court handed down life imprisonment, along with a total fine of Rs800,000 to the convicts. In case of default on fine payment, the convicts will have to undergo an additional six-month imprisonment each.
