RAWALPINDI: The district administration on Thursday asked the District Health Authority and other departments to speed up the work to clear the garrison city of dengue larvae to avoid the spread of the virus.
An important meeting of the District Emergency and Response Committee was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Dr Hassan Waqar Cheema, in which a detailed review of dengue prevention, surveillance and control measures across the district was taken.
The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner General Abdul Rehman Khan, Additional Deputy Commissioner Revenue Captain Shahryar Shirazi, health authority and representatives of other relevant departments and field in-charges were present on the occasion.
The deputy commissioner directed that field activities should be made more effective and accelerated to eliminate dengue, hotspots should be continuously monitored, and possible larval breeding sites should be ensured in a timely manner.
He said that indoor and outdoor surveillance should be further improved, and timely reporting of data should be ensured.
He emphasised that all relevant departments should work in coordination, spray and cleaning measures should be intensified in hotspot areas, and public awareness campaigns should also be made effective so that citizens take preventive measures.
He clarified that the implementation of the zero-tolerance policy against dengue will continue, and no negligence will be tolerated.
He directed the field teams to remain active and submit performance reports on a daily basis.
