Man shot dead, two kin injured

SAHIWAL: Dera Rahim police claimed to have arrested two suspects after a man was shot dead and his niece and a nephew were critically injured over a minor dispute at101/9-L village.

As per police sources, Jafar Khan, a resident of 101/9-L village, had exchanged words with a local, Saghir, over a petty issue a couple of days ago.

On Monday evening, Jafar was sittingin front of a relative’s house in a village street, when Saghir and two others, Zahoor and Tauseef, arrived there armed with pistols.

They opened fire, on Jafar, leaving him dead on the spot.

When Jafar’s niece Shahida and nephew Shah Nawaz attempted to intervene, the assailants shot them too, before fleeing.

The injured were shifted to the Sahiwal Teaching Hospital in critical condition.

Dera Rahim police registered a case under sections 302, 324, and 34 of the PPC on the complaint of Fakhar, Jafar’s son.

District Police Officer (DPO) Usman Tipo took notice of the murder and directed immediate arrest of the killers.

The police later confirmed the arrest of two suspects, Saghir and Tauseef, and started investigations.

BOY ASSAULTED: Two suspects were arrested by Chichawatni Saddar police for sexually assaulting a boy at111/7-R village.

According to the police, Nadeem Akhter, a farmer residing in the village, complained that his son ‘A’, a seventh-grade student, was lured to an orchard by two local youths, ‘AR’ and ‘T’, where they sexually assaulted him.

Following the assault, the boy fell unconscious, and the suspects fled.

A local later found the boy lying unconscious in the orchard and informed his family.

On knowing about the episode, the father lodged a complaint with Chichawatni Saddar police.

A case was registered under Section 375-A of the PPC, and police arrested both suspects.
