• Alleges Punjab police murdered them in ‘fake encounter’ near Head Panjnad
• Accuses officers of refusing to register FIR against ‘extra-judicial killing’
• Names SDPO and other senior officials as respondents

ISLAMABAD: A lady health worker from Punjab’s Muzaffargarh district has requested Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Yahya Afridi to order the formation of a judicial commission to investigate the deaths of her two sons, who were allegedly subjected to extra-judicial killings by the Punjab police.

In a single-page letter written in Urdu, Nazia Anjum claimed that the incident occurred on the night of April 8, when she and the rest of her family members were present at a place near Head Panjnad in Punjab.

She added that Ali Pur SHO Muzammil Hussain, along with his colleagues, arrived there and allegedly, without any legal warrant or justification, started beating her family members.

According to her, the situation escalated when the SHO called for reinforcements.

The petitioner claimed that these officers, acting under the SHO’s direction, subjected her sons, Mohammad Haseeb Asif and Mohammad Tauheed Asif, to severe physical torture, including beatings with batons and the use of abusive language.

She stated that the police officers, after torturing them, took her two sons to a nearby police post or a deserted location late at night. The next morning, the petitioner received the news that her sons had been killed in a purported police encounter.

The police officers also allegedly refused to register a formal first information report (FIR) regarding the incident.

The letter explicitly used the term “extra-judicial killing” in English within the Urdu text, calling it a violation of basic legal and human rights.

The petitioner asserted that the police later attempted to justify the killings by falsely claiming that the victims had opened fire on them.

The petitioner has requested the CJP to order an inquiry into the matter by a judicial magistrate.

The mother has also named the sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) and other senior officials as respondents, accusing them of failing to take action against the killings.

She alleged in the application that her sons were murdered in cold blood, and then a fake encounter was staged to cover it up.

The petitioner has also requested the immediate regis-tration of an FIR against all accused police officers and a transparent investigation by an independent body.
