QUETTA: A woman has appealed to the Balochistan government and law enforcement agencies for protection, alleging “tyrannical actions” and harassment from her former husband.

Speaking at a press conference at the Quetta Press Club on Sunday, Hina Zulfiqar Ali Lashari said she had married Saeed Ahmed Jamali, a resident of Dera Murad Jamali, about 10 years ago.

She said she sought legal separation due to his alleged involvement in illegal activities and “immoral behaviour”.

Ms Lashari alleged that since the separation, her former husband has been using his influence to harass her and her family through litigation and propaganda aimed at tarnishing her reputation.

She further claimed that he was attempting to take their nine-year-old daughter by force and through intimidation.

“I will not hand over my daughter to such a person. He is using his connections to pressure us, and despite approaching the police, no action has been taken so far,” she said.

Expressing concern for her safety and that of her family, she appealed to the Balochistan chief minister, the inspector general of police and other high-ranking provincial officials to intervene.

She urged authorities to take immediate notice of the alleged threats and harassment, adding that if any harm came to her or her family, the responsibility would lie with her former husband.

She also warned that if protection and justice were not provided, she might be forced to take extreme steps, including self-harm in protest.
