MIANWALI, June 29: Punjab Revenue Minister Gul Hameed Khan Rokhri on Thursday criticized the felling of century-old trees in the city by the Tehsil Municipal Administration.

He said though the provincial government was making efforts to bring about a green revolution by planting trees, the Mianwali TMA was working against the plan.

He said the district nazim and the DCO should take stock of the situation and stop the municipal administration from uprooting trees without which the city looks deserted.

He said the TMA could earn only Rs2.5 million from auction of these trees and the amount was too meagre to start any development project. He said he would take up the matter with the chief minister.
