Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Lin Jian says that the US naval blockade of the Strait of Hormuz will “only aggravate confrontation, escalate tension, undermine the already fragile ceasefire” and jeopardise passage through the strategic waterway.
“It is a dangerous and irresponsible move,” he says on X.
“China believes that only a complete ceasefire can fundamentally create conditions for easing the situation,” Lin adds, urging the relevant countries to pursue peace talks, adhere to the terms of the ceasefire and take concrete actions to de-escalate.
