ISLAMABAD, June 28: Girl students have again outshone boys in the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) annual examination 2006 of the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE), grabbing all top three positions.

According to an official statement, 48,058 candidates had appeared in the examination throughout the country including federal government educational institutions running all over the world, of whom 40,046 were declared successful, with a pass percentage of 83.40.

Munira Malik, Roll No 137286 of Kehkashan Army Public School, Fort Colony, Multan Cantt, secured 1002 marks out of 1050 stood first followed by Madeeha Ahmad, Roll No 138056 of Army Public School Kharian Cantt, with 991 marks. While the third position was shared by Aqsa Ansari, Roll No 136105, Amna Nasrullah, Roll No 136127 both from the Army Public School for Girls, Lahore Cantt, Huma Javaid, Roll No 138322, of Army Public School Chunia Cantt, Kasur, and Saad Khalid, Roll No 103866 of Fazaia Inter College, E-9 Islamabad, securing 989 marks.

Others who obtained distinctive marks were Usama Bin Nasir, Roll No 106025 of Army Public School, Westridge-III Rawalpindi, secured 987 marks and Haider Ali, Roll No 107365, and Mohammad Waqar Hameed, Roll No 119717, obtained 984 marks.

Those candidates who have availed all the allowed chances or have failed in more than two subjects are required to appear in all subjects afresh in the annual examination under syllabi and scheme prescribed for the year in which they would appear, the statement said.

While those failing in one or two subjects have been placed under compartment and are required to clear these papers in two allowed chances in the next subsequent examinations up to SSC annual examination 2007, which will be the last examination part- wise for all categories of candidates whether they intend to improve their marks/grade or appear in the additional subjects.

The result cards of regular candidates are being dispatched to the heads of their respective institutions and those of private candidates on their given addresses.

The result cards of the Northern Areas are being sent to the FBISE sub-office Gilgit.

This year, 36 cases of unfair means were reported, of which through personal hearing 34 cases have been decided while two cases were still under process.

In humanities group, Hafiz Omair Latif of the Institute of Islamic Sciences, 17 Mile, clinched first position with 913 marks, Samia Hamid Khan of Islamabad College for Girls, F-6/2, got second position by obtaining 910 marks, and Raja Abdullah Akhtar of National Special Education stood third with 902 marks.
