The UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) has said that shelters for displaced people in Lebanon are severely overcrowded, with nearly half of the country’s public schools now functioning as reception centres, Al Jazeera reports.
“Needs in Lebanon exceed the available capacity,” UN spokesperson Stephane Dujarric told reporters.
Up to 1.2 million people have been forced to flee their homes in Lebanon due to Israeli attacks, with about 140,000 of those sheltering in 680 shelters, according to the UNHCR.
