Gulf Cooperation Council Secretary General Jassim al-Budaiwi has stressed to the UN Security Council that Gulf states are seeking to avoid war and are committed to diplomacy to resolve rising regional tensions, Al Jazeera reports.
“GCC, states do not seek war,” he says. “They seek the peace, security and stability that all peoples deserve, while emphasising that dialogue and diplomacy remain the best path to resolving crises.
“Continued escalation threatens regional security and risks dangerous consequences for international peace and security.”
