LAHORE: Lahore Qalandars’ batter Fakhar Zaman has challenged the decision of a two-match ban imposed on him by match referee Roshan Mahanama in a ball-tampering case reported during a match of the ongoing HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) in Lahore.

The incident occurred during Qalandars’ match against Karachi Kings at the Gaddafi Stadium on Sunday when the 35-year-old opener was seen on video footage altering the condition of the ball.

The PCB charged left-handed Fakhar, who denied ball tampering, at a disciplinary hearing with Mahanama. Subsequently, the PCB announced that Fakhar was suspended for two PSL matches after he was found guilty of a Level 3 offence for tampering the ball.

Now a three-member PSL technical committee will hold a hearing with Fakhar within the next two days, most probably on Thursday.
