ISLAMABAD, June 25: The central working committee (Shoora) of the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (Fazl) on Sunday criticised what it called the government’s ‘lopsided’ privatisation policy and declared that it would nationalise the privatised public sector units whenever it came to power in centre.

The JUI-F, the major component of the six-party Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal, called on the government to withdraw the condition of graduation for the candidates in the election 2007.

Briefing journalists in the middle of the two-day committee meeting, JUI-F chief and leader of opposition in the National Assembly, Maulana Fazlur Rahman, called upon the United States to withdraw its forces from occupied Afghanistan and Iraq.

Asked about any decision on the launch of the opposition’s joint movement against the government, the Maulana said whatever the Shoora decided in its conclusive meeting would be submitted on Monday before the MMA supreme council session and whatever strategy the alliance formulated, would be implemented.

Answering another question about the tribal areas’ situation, the MMA secretary-general said: “We support the NWFP governor’s initiative to tackle the Waziristan Agency problem.”
