KARACHI, June 25: More than 350,000 people visited the three-day All About Life Style – Summer 2006 exhibition, organize by the Dawn Group of Newspapers at the Expo Centre in Gulshan-i-Iqbal, that concluded on Sunday night.

The popularity of the show was so much so that the visitors turnout was so great that the organisers had to stop entry by closing the gates for brief intervals in the evening so that the exhibition halls did not get overcrowded and people could easily see the goods on display.

Different local as well as multinational companies had set up over 150 stalls in four display halls whereas over 45 stalls set up in the food court were selling Continental, Far Eastern, Indian and local food items.

Many stalls were selling goods brought in from Bangladesh. A few of the diplomatic missions had also set up their stalls and were selling their respective countries’ products.

A few pavilions where stage shows etc were held had been set up in the outer spaces. Besides, there were play areas having games for children.

A ‘doll show’, with over 1,200 entries, was also organised at the exhibition.

At the ‘pet show’ people proudly displayed their horses, turtles, pythons, hedgehog, parrots, etc.

A smartly dressed band of the Pakistan Rangers also entertained the visitors.

Organisers of the exhibition complained that they faced a lot of hardship due to power outages throughout the day. “Although we had standby generators, both the visitors and members of the participating organizations felt uneasy because of the prolonged electricity breakdowns,” said an organiser.
