Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has confirmed in a call with his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov, that closing the Strait of Hormuz to US and Israeli ships is a “legitimate measure”, AFP reports citing Iran’s foreign ministry.
Araghchi has also said that the passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz is done in coordination with the relevant Iranian authorities.
During the phone call, Araghchi accused the US and Israel of attacking civilian targets, schools, hospitals and historical sites, saying that Iran would continue to decisively defend itself.
