LAHORE: The Young Doctors Association (YDA) has approached the Lahore High Court (LHC) against the death of an eight-year-old girl after being bitten by a dog in Township.

Through Advocate Azhar Siddique, the association filed a civil miscellaneous application in a pending writ petition, highlighting the tragic incident and expressing serious concern over the rising number of stray dog bite cases.

The application stated that approximately 275,000 citizens were bitten by stray dogs in the past year alone. It also challenged the existing Animal Birth Control policy of the government, arguing that it failed to ensure public safety.

The YDA submitted that citizens remain vulnerable to attacks by stray and rabid dogs.

The plea asked the court to direct the authorities to launch a province-wide operation to eliminate stray dogs in order to prevent further incidents and safeguard the public.
