Former US national security adviser Jake Sullivan has said that before it launched Strikes on Iran, Washington was very close to an agreement with Tehran that could have resolved the nuclear issue.

“Just a few days before we started bombing Iran, the Iranians put a proposal on the table in Geneva that went a long way towards resolving the nuclear issue, and my understanding is that our side, our negotiators, siply didn’t understand what they were being offered, and they ignored it,” he said on ‘The Daily Show with Jon Stewart’.

When pressed, Sullivan elaborated that when Trump administration officials spoke about the proposal, there was a “mismatch” between their claims and those of Omani mediators.
