KARACHI, June 23: Karachiites braved yet another hot day on Friday as the city continued to sizzle with temperature edging slightly to 40.5 degree Centigrade.

On Thursday, the city had experienced the season’s hottest day, which coincidently was also the longest day of the year, when temperature rose to a sweltering 41 degree Centigrade.

According to the Met office, Sunday will register a drop in temperature, with the mercury falling in the range of 35 to 38 degrees Centigrade. However, on Saturday, the highest temperature may remain between 40 and 42 degree Centigrade.

It said the highest temperature the city had ever witnessed was 48 degree Centigrade on May 9, 1938. In the month of April, the highest temperature recorded is 44 degree Centigrade and in the month of June, it is 47 degree Centigrade.

Meanwhile, doctors have advised people to drink maximum possible water, at least 12 to 16 glasses, to avoid suffering a heatstroke.

They have also recommended adding a little salt in the water while consuming it before going outdoors. However, those who are hypertensive should not increase their salt intake, the doctors said.
