SAHIWAL, June 22: Robbers shot at and injured seven people in three strikes and escaped with valuables worth Rs523,000 on Wednesday night.

Nine gunmen entered the house of PML-N leader Iftikhar Ahmed Junejo. They opened fire when the family put up resistance as a result of which Mr Junejo, his brother Rashid and son Zahid sustained injuries. The robbers locked the family in a room and disappeared on horses with valuables worth Rs430,000.

Two bandits entered the house of farmer Murid Husain in Chak 135/9-L and disappeared with cash and ornaments worth Rs115,000.

The robbers injured farmer Rashid and three others, identified as Abdul Razzaq, Rafiq and Azam in Chak 177/9-L and escaped with Rs25,000 in cash collected from them.

The injured were admitted to the DHQ hospital where the condition of Abdul Razzaq, Rafiq and Rashid was reported to be serious.

‘KILLERS’ ARRESTED: Harappa police claimed on Thursday to have arrested five of the seven alleged killers of president of the Qadiani Jamaat of Chak 6/10-L.

Zakaullah was returning on June 20 to his village at night when seven people shot him dead. Harappa police registered a case against seven people and arrested Munawar, Zubair, Allah Ditta, Imran and Ansar. Two accused Imran Yousaf and Ghulam Mustafa Jat are still at large.

Police said the murder was the outcome of litigation between the accused and Zakaullah.
