TOBA TEK SINGH, June 22: Scores of drivers riding on their motorcycle-rickshaws took out a rally on Thursday at Gojra to protest against 100 per cent proposed raise in tax by the tehsil municipal administration in the budget.

The rally starting from Gadda Khana Chowk ended at TMA offices after marching along various roads.

Speaking on the occasion, rickshaw union president Malik Tariq Salman and leaders of various political parties condemned the proposed raise in the tax and demanded its withdrawal.

They urged tehsil council members to reject the tax proposal on its presentation for approval in the house. Later, Tehsil Nazim Chaudhry Asad Zaman Cheema assured the rickshaw union office-bearers that the proposal would be withdrawn.

RAPED: Two boys allegedly raped a seven-year-old girl here on Thursday at Chak 320-JB.

Reports said Tanvir and Safdar overpowered daughter of Noor Muhammad when she was at work in the fields and raped her. The girl was admitted to DHQ hospital.

Later, DPO Akhtar Laleka told journalists at a press conference that the police had arrested both the accused and charge sheets against them would be filed with the sessions court shortly.
