Complaints against phone company

GUJRAT, June 21: Subscribers complained of poor service by Worldcall Telephone Company in Lalamusa and Kharian. A number of subscribers told Dawn on Wednesday that their handsets and landline sets did not have any signals inside their houses.

They said due to weak signals, they could make a call. The problem has been persisting for the last four days ago but the company had failed to rectify the fault despite several complaints.

A company spokesman in Kharian said the system was being upgraded for the last four days as a result of which subscribers were having problem in making calls.

He said the task would be completed on Thursday after which subscribers would enjoy hassle free service.

CLASH: A clash between two prize bond dealers and their men over sale of prize bond chits at taxi stand in Lalamusa on Wednesday left them with minor injuries.

The clash started when men of dealer Abid forbade the workers of dealer Ayub from selling prize bond chits. Both the groups used clubs and hurled bricks at each other.

Insiders claimed that the illegal business was continuing under the patronage of Lalamusa city police.

They said the police were busy in reconciling between the two groups. No case was registered till the filling of this report.

ROBBERY: Four robbers took away cash and jewellery worth Rs600,000 from women passengers riding in a rickshaw near Chak Natha in Serai Alamgir on Tuesday night.
