PESHAWAR, June 21: The managing director (power), Wapda, Mohammad Anwar Khalid, has directed Trible Electric Supply Company (Tesco) authorities to expedite recovery of power dues and installation of meters in Fata.

He was presiding over a meeting with the Tesco chief executive officer and the company’s manager, operation, held at the WAPDA House here on Tuesday.

He said efforts should be made to recover Rs58 billion dues in Fata.

He said Tesco would have to meet its expenditures through own sources.

Earlier, Tesco chief executive officer Saeed Khan told the meeting that installation of meters and recovery of dues could not be accelerated because of tribesmen’s lack of interest in getting legal power connections and paying bills according to the present domestic tariff.

Referring to recovery from public sector consumers, he said the situation was not much different but considerable progress had been made in this regard.

He said Rs33 million was outstanding against the political administration, Rs192.240 million against the public health engineering department, Rs29.46 million against the education department and Rs30.50 million against the health department.

He said field teams had been directed to recover the electricity dues from government departments by the end of the month.
