ISLAMABAD June 21: The Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) has submitted to the National Assembly Secretariat an adjournment motion seeking to discuss the situation arising out of the gruesome murder of a tribal journalist Hayatullah Khan in Mir Ali on June 16.

Signed by Liaquat Baloch, Hafiz Hussain Ahmed, Asadullah Bhutto, Abdul Akbar Chitrali, Farid Paracha, Dr Attaur Rahman, Muhammad Hussain Mehnati, Maulana Asadullah, Aisha Munawar, Shahida Akhtar Ali, Samia Raheel Qazi, Laeeq Khan and Maulana Ahmed Ghafoor, the motion said the journalist community felt insecure as a result of the murder of their colleague.

The motion said Hayatullah was kidnapped six months ago and the government did not act to recover him although it knew the kidnappers and the motive behind his kidnapping which was a worst example of callousness and indifference towards citizens.

It further said the incident had put freedom of press to docks as the community was faced with hardships and required intervention by the lower house.
