KARACHI, June 21: The K-III project, designed to provide an additional 100 million gallons per day water to the city, has not brought any relief to people of Keamari Town.

People of Keamari Town and surrounding areas were still suffering from acute shortage of water.

According to a local councillor, all union councils of the town from 1 to 8 were not supplied water from K-III project.

When contacted, Town Naib Nazim Ameer Hamza said that they were in touch with the water board and negotiations were going on in this regard. He expressed hope that the problem would be solved soon.

The area people, especially settled at nearby islands, informed that they had to buy water from ships.

GULSHAN: The Town Council meeting of Gulshan-i-Iqbal approved a resolution allocating Rs12 million for the betterment of sewerage network in the town.

The meeting was held with Town Naib Nazim Shoaib Akhtar in the chair on Wednesday.

The resolutions regarding construction of main road in Madina Colony and Jamali Colony, and improvement of parks in UC-7 were also approved in the meeting.

Other resolutions for expanding contracts with security companies and paying dues to the KESC were also unanimously approved.

SITE: The administration of SITE Town on the second day of the ongoing anti-encroachment campaign cleared Banaras Chowk and its surrounding areas of all illegal encroachments.

On the directive of SITE Town Nazim Izharuddin Ahmed Khan, TMO, TO (MR), DTO Land along with SHO Pirabad in the supervision of the Naib Nazim Syed Badshah Khan removed push carts, road side stalls, cabin hotels and other encroachments from roads and footpaths. During the campaign, many people voluntarily removed illegal structures in Pathan Colony, Frontier Colony and adjoining areas.—PPI/APP
