Naib tehsildar shot dead in Kachhi

QUETTA: A naib tehsildar was martyred in an armed attack when unknown gunmen opened fire on his vehicle in the Khatan area of Kachhi district on Friday.

Police officials said Naib Tehsildar Sher Dil was on his way to his native village, Khatan, along with his family when armed men opened fire on his vehicle.

According to police, when he reached near Khatan, unknown attackers opened fire, and the bullets hit Sher Dil, leaving him with multiple injuries.

Police rushed to the site soon after receiving information and shifted him to the district hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

“Sher Dil received multiple bullet wounds that caused his instant death,” police said.

However, the family members travelling with him remained safe in the firing. After completing medico-legal formalities, the body was handed over to the heirs.

Police, along with other security personnel, launched a search operation to trace the suspects involved in the attack. Further investigation is under way, and no group has so far claimed responsibility for the attack.

Bomb explosion

Meanwhile, a bomb planted near a survey team’s vehicle exploded in the Pir Koh area of Dera Bugti district on Friday.

Police said the explosion occurred near Well No. 10, close to the survey team’s vehicle. Fortunately, no casualties were reported in the incident.

Soon after the blast, a heavy contingent of police and security forces reached the site and cordoned off the area.
