Two sisters kidnapped

KHAIRPUR, June 20: Armed men kidnapped two sisters from the Saleemabad village in the jurisdiction of Thari Mirwah police station on Saturday, says an FIR filed on Monday.

Saleem Pervez Banbhan, uncle of the girls, said in the FIR that seven persons snatched his two nieces, 14-year-old Afshan and twelve-year-old Saba, daughters of Sabir Hussain, from their house and drove them away.

He identified the kidnappers as Khalid Hussain Shar, Munir Shar, Mohammad Saleh, Ghulamuddin and others.

WATER SHORTAGE: Hundreds of residents of the city’s six localities staged a protest demonstration at Phool Bagh Chowk on Tuesday against unavailability of drinking water for last one week.

The protesters from Mir Ali Bazaar, Gudu Shop, Panj Hatti, Chorigar Bazaar, New Shaikh Mohalla and Hashmi Ghatti led by Mohammad Wahid Siddiqui and Qamar Abbas raised slogans and said that they were forced to buy drinking water and had no water for other uses.

SUICIDE: A 17-year-old youth, Aziz Ahmed Channa, committed suicide by consuming pesticides in Channa village near Khuhra town on Tuesday.

The teenager is reported to have been depressed over some domestic problems.

SHOT DEAD: Armed men on a motorcycle shot dead a 16-year-old youth, Ashfaq Kandhro, in the jurisdiction of Tando Masti Khan police station on Tuesday.

Ashfaq was walking from the Azmat Kandhro village when some armed men on a motorcycle opened fire on him and sped away. He died instantly.

The murder is said to be an offshoot of a dispute between Kandhro and Maitlo communities.

TWO DROWN: A couple drowned in the Rohri Canal on Monday evening while picnicking on the canal’s bank.

Reports said that Ayaz Ali Mastoi and her wife Ms Zulekhan who had a love marriage just a few months before were picnicking at the canal near Luqman when Ms Zulekhan could not control herself and slipped into water.

Her husband jumped after her but drowned himself trying to save her. Their bodies had not been recovered till the filing of this report.
