Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has taken note of the demonstrations which have erupted across the country, directing law enforcement personnel to respect the sentiments of the protestors.

In a post on X, the chief minister said, “I have directed the police and administration to understand the sentiments of the protesters and to deal with them with respect and dignity”.

She added that arrangements for iftar are being made for the protestors.

“Every Muslim is grieving and is tearful at this moment,” she said, referring to Iran’s supreme leader, Khamenei’s assassination.

However, she held that “maintaining peace and security in our country and our cities is also our foremost duty”.
