KARACHI, June 18: Sindh’s eight seed Vishan Gir made unceremonious exit as other seeded cueists propelled into the knock out pre-quarterfinals of the 10th Style ranking snooker tournament at the Karachi Gymkhana on Sunday.

Vishan who cracked a century break in his 4-0 triumph against Mohammad Sadiq on the opening day, tasted second successive defeat when he went down 1-4 to Mohammad Yousuf in group “H”. He lost 3-4 to Imtiaz Tipu on Saturday.

Yousuf, who is trailing at the ninth spot, dropped the opening frame on his way to register 20-58, 63-20, 62-16, 60-58, 101-6 victory to enter the next stage.

Top seed, Khurram Agha, second seed Imran Shahzad, third seed Abu Saim and sixth seed Naveen Perwani also ended the league matches on winning note.

Despite tasting 1-4 defeat at the hands of Jawed Ansari, fifth seed Sohail Shehzad qualified for the last 16.

Similarly, seventh seed Rambel Gul’s 3-4 loss at the hands of Raees Khan in the last encounter could not stop him from entering the next stage.
