RAWALPINDI: Divisional Commissioner Abdul Aamer Khattak on Tuesday asked Punjab Communication and Works department and Frontier Works Organization (FWO) to speed up the work on Kutchery Chowk remodeling project to meet the deadline of April 30.

The commissioner along with officials of the Frontier Works Organisation (FWO) had a detailed visit to review the ongoing construction activities of the Kutchery Chowk Remodeling Project.

The officials from the departments concerned engineers and contractors were also present on the occasion and briefed him on the progress of the project.

During the briefing, it was shared that work on the Kutchery Chowk Remodeling Project is in full speed while construction work continues in double shifts.

The overall progress of the project stands over 64 percent.

Katchery Intersection has has made 64 percent progress, while Iftikhar Janjua Chowk 65 percent and Annexy Chowk at 62 percent.

Although the project, launched in November 2025, was originally given a completion timeline of 18 months, it is being completed at a record pace in view of public inconvenience.

A deadline of April 30 has now been set for its completion. The commissioner stated that with modern infrastructure development, Rawalpindi is becoming a connected and smart city.

“The Rawalpindi Signal-Free Corridor Project is bringing revolutionary improvements to urban mobility,” he said.

Under this mega project, construction of dual flyovers and an underpass at Jinnah Park and Katchery Chowk, as well as an underpass at Iftikhar Janjua Chowk, is progressing swiftly.

He further said that upon completion, the project will significantly reduce traffic congestion, shorten travel time and help save fuel.

He directed that the traffic management plan must be strictly implemented during construction to minimise inconvenience to citizens.

He emphasised that the project must be completed within the stipulated deadline and that no compromise should be made on construction quality.
