MANSEHRA: Lt Col Shahzada Gul Faraz Tanoli, who embraced martyrdom in a terrorist attack carried out by Fitna-al-Khwarij in Bannu, was laid to rest here with national pride and dignity.

The funeral prayers of the Shaheed Lt Col, 43, who was martyred along with Sepoy Karamat Shah, 28, while fighting militants, were offered at Thakra Stadium here.

People from different walks of life including the federal minister, Sardar Mohammad Yusuf, and the corps commander showed up in large numbers and paid rich tributes to the Shaheed Lt Col and those who laid down their lives during the ongoing war against terrorism.

According to ISPR, five terrorists were killed in a heavy exchange of fire between the militants and security forces in Bannu.

Lt-Col Shahzada Gul Faraz Tanoli, who had received his intermediate education from Pakistan Scout Cadet College Mansehra, was laid to rest in the Thakra area with full military honour.

The martyred Lt Col Shahzada Gul Faraz Tanoli is survived by his wife and four children.
