24 PTI workers charged with blocking road, hurling threats in Gujrat

GUJRAT: The city police have booked 24 PTI workers on charges of blocking a road by burning tyres, hurling threats to motorists and other such allegations.

According to the first information report lodged with the Gujrat City’s Civil Lines police station, around two dozen workers of PTI gathered at city’s old GT Road near Butt Hospital and blocked the road by burning tyres on Feb 20.

The workers who were carrying clubs and rods etc also chanted slogans, hurled threats to the passer-by motorists to not pass through the area.

Police nominated nine workers of PTI, including a former union council vice chairman, Faizan Khalid Butt.

The case has been lodged under sections 506, 436, 341, 290, 291, 147 and 149 of PPC on the report of a sub inspector Kaleemullah of A- division police station.

Sources said that the police had been conducting raids to arrest other suspects involved in the case.

Meanwhile, police have booked and arrested 11 youth on the charges of doing a wheelie along the old GT road on Saturday.

Police have also confiscated motorbikes of the suspects.
