KARACHI, June 17: Work on improvement of sewerage system started on an emergency basis with the replacement of 30-year-old sewerage lines in all the union councils of Shah Faisal Town.

“The supply of clean drinking and improvement of sewerage system is our foremost priority,” said Shah Faisal Town Nazim Mohammed Imran while inaugurating the laying of sewerage lines in Mulla Shore, Gulnar Basti, Breli Colony, Shah Faisal Colony No 5 and adjoining areas of UC-2.

He said that it would be made a model town by improving its sewerage system and overcoming water shortage. For this purpose, 1,800-ft-long sewerage lines of 12, 15 and 18 inch dia would be laid.

In the past, he pointed out that no attention was paid to public issues as a result of which the issues kept multiplying. He said the government believed in practical action and not in mere promises and development activities going on in every corner of the city was a testimony to it.

He said the work on supply of clean drinking water and sewerage system improvement would be completed in phases.

Naib Nazim Ali Akbar, Town Municipal Officer Syed Barkat Ahmed Rizvi and other were also present.

BALDIA TOWN: Baldia Town has set up a rain emergency centre at is central office at the Hub River Road.

The centre would work round-the-clock during rainy season. Area people have been advised to contact the centre in case of any emergency at its telephone numbers 2817191 and 2817274.

Chairing a meeting, Baldia Town Nazim Kamran Akhtar reviewed arrangements for monsoon and directed the contractors and officials to speed up work of lifting garbage and clearing Nullah in the limits of Baldia Town.—PPI
