KARACHI: Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab has directed officials concerned to ensure completion of all ongoing development projects before Eid.

The mayor said this during a visit to review the progress of various projects, including road carpeting in old city area and renovation works on Jahangir Road, Hidayatullah Road, and Sharea Faisal in the small hours of Thursday morning.

Focusing on a key point, he described Jahangir Road as a vital artery connecting the city’s main thoroughfares and ordered its construction to be expedited.

He added that the administration is striving to open one track of the road before the Eid holidays to alleviate citizens’ difficulties.

Inspects ongoing uplift schemes in visit to city areas

Issuing a stern warning to the municipal staff, the mayor said: “I don’t want briefings anymore.”

“The month of Ramazan has arrived; people should be provided with facilities before Eid,” he said.

He emphasised the strategic importance of the uplift projects, stating that improvements in the Old City Area will positively impact traffic flow throughout the city.

The mayor stressed that there would be no compromise on construction quality, and directed that payments to contractors be released only after a thorough inspection and verification process.

“I assure the citizens that after a short wait, the city’s infrastructure will improve,” he promised.
