GUJRAT: The Gujranwala Sadar police on Wednesday booked Farhat Shahzadi alias Farah Gogi, her spouse Ahsan Jameel Gujjar, his father Iqbal Guijar, a former Punjab minister of PML-N, and several others on charges of fraud and selling official land illegally in a housing society.

The case has been lodged under sections 420, 468, 471, 441, 447 and 188 of Pakistan Penal Code on the report of Mirza Babar, the estate officer of Gujranwala Development Authority.

According to the case, the nominated suspects sold a piece of land already allocated for park, graveyard, school and public building etc.

The land was transferred to the GDA for the use of public but the owners and management of the G Magnolia Housing Society had illegally shaped these as plots and sold to customers.

Moreover, the society also sold plots in extension block without the approval of the concerned authorities. The society, developed in 2005, had no authority to develop the extension and sell plots.

Believed to be settled abroad, Gogi and her husband had allegedly been involved in corruption through postings and transfers of officials in Punjab during the Buzdar-led PTI government.
