KARACHI: Police picked up two security guards and 12 workers of a jewllery shop after theft of gold worth Rs140 million, it emerged on Monday.
According to the police, the theft incident was reported on Feb 14 at an Orangi Town jewllery shop situated within the remit of the Iqbal Market police station.
The thieves entered the shop during the night between Feb 12 and Feb 13 and looted gold, silver and jewellery from the safe.
The police said that the estimated value of the stolen property was approximately Rs140m.
“Both security guards of the market and 12 employees have been taken into custody for questioning,” said an officer.
He said that investigations were underway.
