ABBOTTABAD, June 16: Opposition members in district councils have resigned en masse from all district monitoring committees, including from the chairmanship of two, in protest against what they termed violation of rules by nazims while forming committee. The 17 opposition council members announced this here on Friday at a joint press conference at the local press club.

The council members, including women, said that nazims of union councils belonged to the opposition group but they had formed 32 committees instead of 11. They alleged that the district Nazim had no say in the district council affairs, adding that he was a puppet in the hands of vested interests.
