KARACHI, June 16: The police on Friday shot dead a bandit and arrested his accomplice after an encounter in Saeedabad.Police said two suspects were looting some pedestrians in Sector 14, when a police party patrolling the area approached them.The suspects opened fire at the police, which the police returned, killing one suspect who was later identified as Ajmal Khan. His accomplice was identified as Rasool Akbar.

Police recovered two TT pistols and several rounds from their possession.

KILLED: Armed bandits killed a man in Korangi on Friday morning.

Police said Ayub, 30, was returning home in Bengali Camp, Sector 34/3, after withdrawing cash worth Rs300,000 from UBL branch.

When he reached his house, armed suspects following him, intercepted him and demanded the cash. As he attempted to put up resistance, they opened fire and fled without taking the cash, police said.

The victim was rushed to the nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead. The body was later sent to the JPMC for postmortem examination, police said.
