ISLAMABAD, June 15: President of Pakistan Tennis Federation, Syed Dilawar Abbas said on Thursday that having the PTF Complex completed as soon as possible was one of his top priorities.

Re-elected for a second term recently, Dilawar told Dawn that a major chunk of money the PTF had was being spent on the construction of the complex.

“This facility once ready will help us hold international competitions besides serving us in several other ways,” he said shortly before visiting the summer youth camp at the Islamabad Tennis Complex (ICT).

He also outlined plans for grooming junior players by sending two of them abroad for extended training. “At the moment we are looking for sponsors and I am quite hopeful that we will be able to attract the required sponsorship.”

After witnessing an exhibition match between Sadanul Haq-Zain Zia and Anoosha Aslam-Naumanul Haq, he gave the young players a pat on their back for their fine play.

Saying that the PTF should not be blamed for every little thing he called upon the federation's affiliated units to act responsibly in promoting the game at the provincial level.

“On my instructions, coaching camps for juniors in the four provinces have started following which we intend to hold a tournament for top players emerging from all centres.”
