LAHORE, June 15: The newly appointed director of National Cricket Academy, Mudassar Nazar said on Thursday he planned to start national and regional academies from July 10.

Addressing a press conference, former Test opener Mudassar said that he had made recommendations for the appointment of coaches, trainer, physio for the NCA as well as for the 11 regional academies to the PCB chairman a couple of days ago.

After obtaining approval there would be no hurdle to start the academies, Mudassar said.

Asked about reports of PCB’s reservations over some recommendations, Mudassar said his job was to make the recommendations and it was up to the chairman to accept it or not.

The PCB had closed the NCA in June last year, saying the academy was not working properly.

He pointed out that the NCA and every regional academy would have one coach, assistant coach, physio and trainer.

The national junior and selection committees would select the boys for every academy, he said.

He admitted there was dearth of coaches but he would organise more Level-II and II courses to remove the shortcoming.

He said that he had passed Level-II course and had appeared for Level-III course.
