LAHORE: Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has appointed her brother-in-law Ali Mustafa Dar her adviser on artificial intelligence and special initiatives.

A notification in this regard was issued on Monday.

“In exercise of powers conferred upon her under Article 130 (11) of the Constitution of Islamic Republic of Pakistan read with Section 3 of the Punjab Advisers (salary, allowance and privileges) Ordinance 2003, the chief minister is pleased to appoint Ali Mustafa Dar as Adviser to Chief Minister on Artificial Intelligence and Special Initiatives on pro bono basis with immediate effect,” the notification says.

The CM’s advisers enjoy the status and powers of a provincial cabinet minister and they attend Punjab Assembly sessions as per the prevailing law.

Ali Dar is the son of deputy prime minister and foreign minister Ishaq Dar. He is married to Asma Nawaz, the daughter of PML-N President Nawaz Sharif and younger sister of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.

He is a businessman by profession having business properties mainly in Dubai. Ali Dar remained in self-exile during the tenure of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) government as he faced NAB corruption cases along with his father and a brother.
