DERA GHAZI KHAN, June 15: A patrol police squad stopped a non-custom paid vehicle and arrested its driver for crashing pass several barricades all way through from Balochistan erected by the Border Military Police and the Punjab police.

The vehicle was halted on the Dera-Quetta Road near airport after the police and driver exchanged fire.

According to the police, a Land Cruiser coming from Balochistan did not stop at any barricade placed by the BMP and the Punjab police and succeeded in entering Punjab. On information provided by the BMP, they said the Sakhi Sarwar and Toomi patrol teams had chased the vehicle and stopped it after a brief exchange of fire with the driver.

The driver, they said, left the vehicle and snatched a motorcycle from passerby amd tried to flee but the police pounced on him. The suspect was identified as Chaudhry Ayaz who told the police that he had left his accomplice while entering Punjab for fear of possible action.

The Toomi police have registered a case against the driver under section 392, 324, 127/186, 13/10/65.
