KARACHI: The Sindh School Education & Literacy Department has taken a significant step by establishing a helpline for teachers across the province to provide them guidance and address their issues.
The helpline is dedicated to teachers from both public and private schools across Sindh, said a press statement.
In the initial phase, the helpline will remain operational every Wednesday from 12 noon to 2 pm and teachers may contact on 0315-1464945.
Teachers’ complaints and issues will be received directly by a redressal committee comprising MPA Tanzila Umm-e-Habiba and Additional Director of the Directorate of Inspection & Registration of Private Institutions (DGIRPI) Rafia Javed Mallah.
Education Minister Sardar Shah stated that a formal and effective platform had been provided for public and private school teachers to register complaints, share suggestions and seek professional guidance, which will help ensure the timely resolution of teachers’ issues.
He said that this initiative is a practical step towards incorporating teachers’ voices into policymaking, which will directly benefit teachers in terms of professional development and effective resolution of their issues.
He emphasised that a transparent and accountable system is essential for accurate identification of issues and their sustainable solutions.
The Teachers’ Helpline has been established in accordance with the decisions taken during the 18th meeting of the Board of Governors of the Sindh Teacher Education Development Authority (STEDA).
Suggestions received through the helpline will be presented before the STEDA Board so that teachers’ direct representation can be made part of education policy.
