KARACHI, Jun. 13: A man killed his 10-year-old niece after allegedly subjecting her to abuse, and wounded her sisters before fleeing from their house in Orangi Town on Tuesday.

Police said that Shamsuddin along with his wife and father-in-law went to the registration office in connection with preparation of a national identity card, leaving their three daughters at home in Ghaziabad, Sector 11½.

Police said Hafiz Abdul Rehman, brother-in-law of Shamsuddin, came to their house and sent out his 13-year-old niece Aqsa to fetch something. Meanwhile, he allegedly abused 10-year-old Iqra and later slit her throat with a sharp-edged weapon.

Police said that 11-month-old girl Aysha was also found in an injured condition in the house.

Police said the suspect was about to flee the house when Aqsa returned. He tried to kill her also but the girl escaped. The suspect also fled.

During quizzing the family, police learnt that elder sister Aqsa and the victim Iqra were from the first marriage of Shamsuddin, police said.

The victim’s body was sent to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for post-mortem examination.

An FIR was lodged at the Orangi Town police station by the girls’ father, police said.

In another case, 13-year-old Rustum was brought to the Jinnah Hospital by the police with the complaint of sexual assault.

The medico-legal staff examined the boy and found that he had been abused and his body bore injury marks.

Police said the boy lived in Masoom Shah Colony in the Defence area. He accused his neighbour for the criminal act. Police said the suspect had fled.
