ATTOCK, June 11: Police have recovered an abducted trader from the possession of two kidnappers after 26 days, police sources said here on Sunday.

Haji Mohammad Saleem was kidnapped on May 14 from Domail village in the jurisdiction of Basal police station for a ransom of Rs10 million.

Sources said that a police party under the supervision of the district police officer (DPO) raided the location of kidnappers at village Karpa, Attock, on Saturday after tracing it from the telephone calls and recovered Haji Saleem from the possession of the alleged kidnappers: Khalid Hameed and Mohammad Aslam.

Hectic efforts were being made for the arrest of four other absconding gang members, the sources claimed.

Mr Saleem was kidnapped at gunpoint when he was going to offer morning prayers. Later the accused had demanded a ransom of Rs10 million from his family through phone calls for his release.

On contact, Mr Mumtaz, a duty officer of Basal police station, confirmed release of the abducted trader, however, he refused to disclose details of the recovery.

When contacted DPO Zafar Iqbal Awan, he was not available for comments due to holiday.

CASES AGAINST IMAMS: The Attock police have registered cases against two religious leaders Maulana Naeemur Rehman and Maulana Abdul Ghani for violating the loudspeaker ordinance.
