KARACHI, June 11: The Sindh PML has advised opposition parties not to ignore national interests for the sake of their political interests.

Haleem Adil Shaikh, Information Secretary of the PML, Sindh, criticised the Jamaat-i-Islami for planning a sit-in in Islamabad to exert pressure on Gen Pervez Musharraf to quit after handing over powers to a caretaker government with the task of holding fresh elections under an independent election commission.

Hw was speaking at a meeting of party workers in Jaffar Tayyar Society here on Sunday.

He said: “Difference of opinion is a good in democracy, but the approach should be positive as a negative approach will benefit neither the country nor democracy.”

Mr Shaikh asserted that the next general election would be held under President Musharraf, and advised all pro-democracy parties to hold their own party polls before taking part in the upcoming general elections.

He told PML workers that people had rejected the ‘negative’ politics of those who were now talking of boycotting the polls under President Musharraf.

He observed that the due to their politics of sit-in and violence, cracks had already started developing within the MMA.
