Seven players reach last eight

KARACHI, June 9: Seven players cruised into the quarterfinals (second phase) of the 10th KC Open Snooker challenge by winning their two league matches apiece at the Karachi Club on Friday.

Those who advanced include Khurram Agha, Salman Shaikh, Sohail Shehzad, Naveen Perwani, Atiq Latif Bux, Vishan Gir and Mohammad Yousuf.

The quarterfinal lineup will be finalised on Saturday following completion of league matches. The best of nine frames quarterfinals will be played on Sunday at 11.00am.

This will be followed by semifinals the same day at 3.00pm. The event concludes on Monday.

Earlier, Qasim Kamani whipped veteran Sarwar Siddiqui 4-0 in the final to win first leg of the competition the other day. The scores were 75-34, 61-17, 86-22, 82-32.

Aneel Bherwani and Ahad Ali Khan who qualified for the second phase opted out due to personal committments and their places were filled by Mazhar Soni and Asadullah Aslam.
