MUZAFFARABAD, June 9: The Azad Jammu and Kashmir government has approved the payment of compensation of Rs50,000 and Rs30,000 to its gazetted and non-gazetted employees for houses damaged in last year’s earthquake.

According to a notification issued on Friday by the AJK services and general administration department, the employees have been asked to submit details losses suffered by them.

The notification says that the employees living in official residences are required to get the particulars attested by the public works department before submitting it.

Similarly, the employees living in private/rented houses should get the papers attested by the house owners.

The employees are to submit the papers through the heads of their departments, the notification adds.

The October 8 catastrophe last year left thousands of people dead and 3.3 million homeless in Azad Jammu and Kashmir and the Frontier province, including government employees. —APP
