KHAIRPUR, June 9: Eight armed motorcyclists gunned down three men and injured another in two separate incidents on Friday. Reports said the armed men shot dead Rustam Siyal, 55, and Walar Maitlo and injured Gulan Sial, 25, son of Rustam, when they were working in the field near the Qadan Maitlo village in Kingri taluka. The injured was admitted to the Rural Health Centre of Pir-jo-Goth.

They also gunned down Shahnawaz Maitlo, 30, near Tando Masti.

Relatives of the deceased put the blame on Kandhera tribesmen who they said had signed an agreement with them at a jirga some days ago but had violated it.

The killings tensed the conditions in the area after Maitla tribesmen closed down their businesses in Ahmedpur, Wadda Mahesar, Khooh Wali Mohammad, Qadan Maitlo, Nandha Mahesar and Old Ahmedpur.

DPO Javed Jiskani told this scribe on phone that heavy contingent of police had been sent to Kandhras’ villages to arrest the culprits.

13 FARMERS BOOKED: Riaz Hussain Solangi, an official of irrigation department, lodged an FIR at Kotdiji police station on Friday against 13 farmers accusing them of stealing water.

He identified the accused as Malook Manghar, Ahmed Jiskani, Ali Mohammad Shanbhani, Aijaz Solangi, Ayub Chakrani, Mohammad Ali, Rehmatullah Solangi, Khair Mohammad Gaho, Mouli Dino, Bangul Wassan, Ghulam Ahmed, Razik Dino and Behram Wassan.
