KARACHI, June 9: The Board of Secondary Education (BSE), Karachi, announced on Friday that Secondary School Certificate Part I (Class IX) annual examination-2006 will commence on June 20.

According to the examination schedule issued by the board, first paper of Science group, English (Compulsory), will be held on June 20, while in the case of general group candidates, English (Compulsory) paper will be held on June 21.

A BSE notification said that the admit cards for Science and General Group (Regular) will be ready for collection from June 12. The admit cards of SSC Part-I General group (Private) have already been despatched to candidates at their residential addresses.

BSE’s controller of examinations Mohammad Saleem Khan told Dawn that so far 1,50,000 students have enrolled themselves as regular and private candidates and the examination would be conducted between 9am and 12 noon in 400 centres set up in secondary schools.

About the left-over candidates, he said, they can submit their forms till June 29 with late fee.

According to BSE notification, admit cards will be available for collection by schools as per following schedule:

On June 12 for schools located in New Karachi, North Nazimabad, Gulberg and Liaquatabad towns; on June 13 for schools located in Lyari and Saddar; on June 14 for Jamshed, Gulshan-i-Iqbal and Shah Faisal towns; on June 15- for Malir, Bin Qasim and Gadap; on June 16 for Keamari, SITE, Baldia and Orangi towns.

All the heads of recognized secondary schools have been advised to send their representatives with authority letters to collect the admit cards on the prescribed dates.

The detailed schedule of examinations is as follows:

Science group: English Paper-I (June 20), Pakistan Studies (June 22), Chemistry Theory (June 24), Biology Theory (June 27), Sindhi Salees Compulsory, Sindhi Normal Course Compulsory, Urdu alternative in lieu of Sindhi Compulsory, English Literature Compulsory in lieu of Sindhi Compulsory, and Geography of Pakistan Paper-I for Foreigners (June 29) and Computer Studies Theory (July 1).

General Group (Regular and Private): English Paper-I (June 21), Pakistan Studies (June 23), General Science (June 26), Mathematics (June 28), Sindhi Salees Compulsory, Sindhi Normal Course Compulsory, Urdu Alternative in lieu of Sindhi Compulsory, English Literature Compulsory in lieu of Sindhi Compulsory, Geography of Pakistan Paper I for Foreigners (June 30).
