KARACHI, June 9: The employees of an exchange company were allegedly deprived of two million rupees by armed suspects at Habib Ibrahim Rehmatullah Road on Friday.

A duty officer of Bahadurabad police station said that a cash handler and a security guard along with a driver of the Galaxy Exchange Company, located at Bahadurabad Chowrangi, went out in a van to I.I Chundrigar Road office.

Instead of taking route to I.I. Chundrigar Road, they headed towards Ibrahim Rehmatullah Road where, according to them, some armed suspects intercepted them at the traffic signal. After depriving the guard and the cash handler of the weapon and cash at gunpoint, the armed men drove away the van.

Later, police found the abandoned van near Natha Khan Bridge.

Police are questioning the security guard and the cash handler. However, the driver, Khanzada, is absconding.

ARRESTED: Seven beggars fell unconscious after consuming food served in charity by two suspects in Landhi.

SHO Sharafi Goth said that the two suspects after distributing food sat down at some distance for their mischievous designs. As soon as the beggars fell unconscious, some of their associates apprehended the suspects.

Police reached the spot and nabbed the suspects.

The seven beggars, including two women, four men and a boy, were rushed to Jinnah hospital.

During interrogation the suspects, identified as Arshad and Ahsan, divulged their plan saying that they had mixed sedatives in the food to rob the beggars.
